Iran is willing to reinitiate nuclear discussions with Washington on condition that it is treated with "dignity" and "honor", Iran's top diplomat has stated.

Abbas Araghchi stated solely negotiations was effective, and disclosed new appeals had originated from go-betweens to resume discussions with the Trump administration. He said Iran possessed no undeclared nuclear sites, and Iran had not yet reached a point to permit the global atomic watchdog to visit struck enrichment centers for safety concerns.

Walking a Complex Path

Araghchi is navigating a complex path since Iran wishes not to be perceived to be proceeding from a situation of disadvantage, and he insisted repeatedly that Iran had emerged stronger in military terms and psychologically from the coordinated strike on its atomic facilities in June.

He was talking at a strategic meeting in Tehran where he reiterated that Iran had "an absolute privilege to process nuclear material domestically that it will perpetually retain" – the key factor of the stalemate in the earlier negotiations.

Previous Discussions Abruptly Concluded

The prior phases of negotiations between the US and Iran were ended suddenly and bitter termination on 12 June when the Israeli government, with American backing, targeted Iranian nuclear sites in a 12-day war that concluded with the US president asserting the facilities had been destroyed. Following this, European countries used their authority to reimpose international penalties, but Iran maintains they have not had a substantial consequence.

Ideal Resolution Offered

Iranian officials said they felt they had attained a "magic solution" to the nuclear fuel concern in earlier negotiations, when it was decided an Iran-based consortium with American involvement could process nuclear material. Each party would have been able to assert triumph since local refinement would have persisted and the US could be assured that Iran's nuclear programme was solely for peaceful purposes.

It had not been agreed in the negotiations that US nuclear scientists could work inside Iran, but that was a logical implication of the consortium proposal. Diplomats claimed on multiple occasions they had reached agreement with the US representative the American negotiator only for the arrangement to disintegrate due to "detractors in America".

Current Status

Iranian officials stated the cooperative arrangement was now withdrawn, but it seems quite possible the offer could be reintroduced in certain ways if discussions reopen.

The American leader recently claimed he had been getting signals that Iran desired to restart talks, but in private Iranian officials say they are not yet getting clear proposals from the United States either directly or from important Middle Eastern intermediaries, such as the Qatari government, the Egyptian leadership, the Omani authorities and Saudi Arabia. The Iran's state department has been charged of non-responsiveness in the wake of the US president's straightforward manner, but Iran asserts diplomacy is not part of a show.

Diplomatic Stance

In his remarks to the forum, designed to portray the US as a hegemonic power that abuses the notion of worldwide standards, Araghchi declared the two-week conflict revealed the conflict could not be settled by armed force. He stated the attacks started with a American requirement for an unconditional Iranian surrender and culminated with an absolute demand for a halt to hostilities.

Iran is assured the initial Israeli attacks were mounted with total Washington understanding and collaboration, making confidence challenging to restore.

Negotiations Remains the Final Resolution

Araghchi said: "Tehran was not the one that had fled dialogue; it was the United States and the Western nations that had consistently attempted to impose their desires during the discussions. Negotiations can still be alive and continues the final resolution to settle conflicts, but its criteria, guidelines and fundamentals must be adhered to."

"Provided that they talk to the citizens of Tehran with the tone of dignity and respect, they will obtain a answer in the equivalent approach."

Repair and Recovery

In what is described by Iranian officials as the struggle of restoration and recovery, Araghchi claimed he was assured Iran's military capacities "are much stronger than preceding 13 or 14 June of this year. Every aspect of our defense have been rebuilt. We acquired many lessons from this engagement; we have discovered our personal limitations and the vulnerabilities of the adversary."

He stated: "We managed to survive this conflict. Our enrichment knowledge, which they intended to obliterate, remains in place. The facilities and gear, if destroyed, will be restored; what is important is the will of the Iranian people and then the social solidarity that they aimed at, but failed to destroy. The nation of Iran have grown more resilient, more integrated, and more supportive of the government and the state in the face of this attack."
